Here is a selection of updates to software items that were published on RISC User Discs, along with a few items which, for various reasons, were never published. In the descriptions below, clicking on the program icons will run the software in question, whereas clicking on text file icons will load any associated help files.

New and updated programs from Andrew Clover

	PaletteDM version 0.05 NEW! This is an excellent utility for machines running RISC OS 3.5 or later which adds new functionality to the Display Manager. Full source code is provided in the software archive.
	ScreenPass version 0.04 (by Noel Crombie) Security protection for your computer: the screensaver will not return you to the desktop until you enter the correct password. ScreenPass is compatible with Acorn's RISC OS 3.1+ screen blanker module and the animated screensavers of RISC OS 4. Full source code is provided in the software archive.
	Desktop Hacker version 1.20+ The latest version of Desktop Hacker is available, complete with source code, in the Games section of this CD's Software area

	Spring version 0.02 NEW! A program to display scaled or tiled sprites in a window
This application demonstrates a way of using a sprite as a window background tile on any version of RISC OS. Sprites may be displayed by dragging them onto the window or icon bar icon; clicking Select or Menu on the main window opens a control panel, whilst clicking Adjust provides information about the sprite. The program was intended to accompany a Wimp Topics article, but the article itself was never written.

	Rulers version 1.01 Desktop character rulers, now compatible with the latest versions of the RISC OS Window Manager
	SetAdr version 1.02 NEW! A simple utility for setting BBC/RISC OS Basic filetypes
	ShowFonts version 1.10 A handy utility for viewing and printing outline font samples, now significantly updated
	TopBit version 1.00 NEW! A simple utility to translate top-bit-set characters in text files to those used by the Macintosh
	WimpLib Pane Demo version 1.00 NEW! RISC User's Wimp Library series, which appeared during volumes 5 and 6, was a popular precursor to the long-running Wimp Topics series. There were six Wimp Library articles, and this program was written for a further article on window panes which never appeared.

	CDFix version 1.57 (final release) Fixes various flaws with Acorn's CDFS filing system (version 1.50 was published on the RISC User 12:1 disc). NOTE: This program is not needed if you use RISC OS 4. Note also that this copy is identical to the version provided in the Install directory at the root of the CD.
